Women in Science

Each book in the Women in Science series focuses on a scientist who succeeded in impacting her field in profound and irrevocable ways while also facing the uphill battle of gender inequality. Scientists such as Marie Curie, Barbara McClintock, Dorothy Hodgkin, Jane Goodall, Caroline Herschel, and Rachel Carson are all responsible for relevant scientific breakthroughs that changed the way we saw and interacted with the world, and they each had to deal with the unfortunate but universal challenges that being a woman brought. Each biography studies the subject from birth to death and provides an in-depth focus on her specific field, the impact her work had and still has on that scientific community, and the backdrop of historical and cultural events she worked through.
